Paint is a product that needs cure time and not just the time it takes to "dry to touch". Exterior paint needs at least 3-4 weeks to properly dry completely (not just the outer surface - dry to touch). 
Once the weather changes and the 1st freeze begins, it is highly advisable to put exterior painting off until spring. 
Freezing the cure time, breaks down the longevity of a paint job. This means instead of last 7 - 10 years, it will only last 2-3 years. Do not believe the starving painter/company telling you it doesn't matter, just so they can earn your money! Read the labels and google it. Don't make this mistake and pay more in the long run, just to get your exterior painted when it's the winter months. And Now You Know!!!
